About Me

What can I say about me, probably not a lot to be honest, I am not one of those people that like to talk about myself, I never have been.

As well as my ponies, I am an avid Cross Stitcher, I had major back surgery in 2005, so I am limited as to what I can and can't do.  My mum shows Benji in Hand for me, they both do really well.

But I hope you have enjoyed looking at the pictures of my Ponies, please add my site to your favourites and come back once in a while to see the progress on the ponies.

A little about this site

I've done the ponies pages, and their blog, as though it was them talking, I've never been one to wax lyrical about myself, and the same goes for the ponies, I always feel as though I am bragging about something.  Even though both ponies are worth bragging about, makes it easier for me to do it as a 3rd person.

Some people may read the pages, and the blog, and go away thinking daft *** if thats the case, please don't come back, those two ponies mean everything to me, and to be able to give them a voice, in my mind adds a bit more character to them.

Each pony has his/her own character, Benji is very much loud and proud, everything he does has to be done for a reason, otherwise why bother doing it in the first place, some will probably say, 'typical male' I think I have to agree there to be honest, if it is worth doing, he will do it right, the trophy show proves that, he couldn't be bothered, his heart wasn't in it, so he messed about.  He isn't one to do something because he thinks it will please me or my mum or anyone else for that matter, he will do it, if it pleases him, but he's also not a stubbon pony nor does he nap or anything like that, he will do whats asked of him, it just depends on if he feels its worth giving 100% or not.  If it is, he blows everyone away with his presence, the amount of people who have commented on him, or been over heard saying look at that Stallion proves what a presence he has, especially consiering he isn't an entire, I'm still amusing myself by the womans comment the other week, when after asking is he still an entire, and my reply was no, are you sure, she asked, well if he is, I want my money back, but for the record he was gelded at 18month of age, its just the way he is, Benji at the end of the day is Benji.

He is what he is, and that's just a little pony with a lot to give, and one hell of an attitude, but he has a heart of gold, he doesn't suffer fools gladly, if he likes you, your fine, he won't do anything to you, if on the other hand he dislikes you, he will land you on your backside, no questions asked, down you go, he weighs people up, you can see him doing it, I'm honoured, he loves me uncondionally, I'm one of the few choosen ones in his life that he won't ever do anything bad to, but on a number of occasions, it has been known for him to destroy someones pride in a matter of seconds, one memorbale occasion being a blacksmith who wouldn't be told it was his first time having his feet trimmed and he was nervous about it, so instead of being patient with him and taking his time, beating him up was the answer, bearing in mind tiny pony, 6ft bloke, who won?  Benji won, never seen a bloke fly through the air like it before, but there you go, don't mess with the little people, they have a habit of revenge, and that bloke probably never thought he could grass ski or do gymnastics, but he found out that day that he could!  Needless to say, I never got his feet trimmed either, that day, I had to find another blacksmith, but I bet that bloke was never quite as cocky about small ponies again, I did end up with no headcollar though, it snapped, but I swear that pony was laughing.

Thats just one tale of Benji's revenge, I have more hahahaha.

Billie on the other hand, is very shy and retiring, and will do anything to please anyone rather than to please herself, even if she feels it isn't worth doing, it was asked of her, so she will do it.  She's come along way in the 9 months that I have had her, she's gone from being the nervous pony that has a fit and throws herself on the floor as soon as look at you, to a really loving sweet pony, who loves nothing more than to give kisses to you.  And she tries her hardest at everything, even if it doesn't make sense to her, she will keep on trying till she gets it right, then its like someone has switched a light bulb on, and she finally gets it, and actually you know something, that is the better way of doing it, you just have to keep plugging away with her.  She would make a small child the perfect riding pony, she is so dainty and sweet, she would be perfect for lead rein, not sure I would trust Benji not to dump small child in a heap if they got on his nerves though.

Benji never had that sort of life, he came straight from the stud to me, whereas Billie was sold at a reduction sale as a lot of 5, she was promised a good home, and a good start in life, what happened from the back end of June 2007 to August 2007 is anyones guess, the only one who can tell us that is Billie, Benji was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and he still has, he is very spoilt, as my mum likes to say, he was an only child till last Aug, typical 1st child sydrome I think lol.

Benji gets everything first time, its as though he was here before, lunging, is a fine example, how many people have spent hours and hours and probably a few more hours, trying to get a youngster to understand what is required of them to go on a lunge?  I have, with some of the horses I've had in the past, till you get to the point of wondering why am I bothering?  Benji's first lunge atempt?  His whole attitude was, yea, right, you want to me trot round in a circle do you?  Yea alright then, how long for?  Do you require me to canter as well, or is trotting ok for you? And off he went like a little pro, having never seen a lunge line in his life before, he just got on with it, no if's no but's no arguing, it was like he had done it a thousand times before.

I've not even attempted it with Billie yet, because I know without even trying what her reaction will be, and that will be to look at you, as though she doesn't understand, even if I had someone to lead her round for me, as soon as that person let her go, she would stop turn into the circle and look at me as if I was stupid for asking her to this, but as soon as it clicks with her, she will be like Benji.

At the end of the day its knowing your animal, and what makes them tick, and what makes them fire on all pistons so to speak, I know Benji from the tips of his ears to the bottom of his tail and the inbetween bits as well, same applies to her.

It took me a while to get to know her with not having her since a weanling, but we're getting there.  I am starting to get what makes her tick, what she likes, what she doesn't like, but we will get there.
